چکیده

Most of the authors working on the species composition of fam. Paramphistomidae (genus Paramphistomum) consider 5 valid species distributed in Europe, namely Paramphistomum cervi (Zeder, 1790)1, P. ichikawai Fukui, 1922, P. microboihrium Fischoeder, 19012, P. daubrteyi Dinnik, 19623 and P. gotoi Fukui, 1922 (cf. Kamburov, 1977 ; Sey, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982 ; Odening and Gräfner, 1979, Odening, 1983 and others). The species mentioned are not evenly distributed all over the continent and occur in different frequency. For example, there are 3 spe cies in Bulgaria: P. daubneyi, P. ichikawai and P. cervi, but the latter two species

Influence of low temperatures on the cercarial shedding of Paramphistomum daubneyi from the snail Lymnaea truncatula.

Lymnaeids in nature are subjected to temperature fluctuations that may have an influence on the shedding of cercariae. Thus, experimental infections of Lymnaea truncatula by Paramphistomum daubneyi were performed to determine whether a sudden fall in temperature--daily dipping of infected snails into spring water at 14-15 degrees C, or at 6-8 degrees C--followed by its increase at 20 degrees C ...

Molecular detection of the infection with Fasciola hepatica in field-collected snails of Galba truncatula and Lymnaea stagnalis from West Azarbaijan, Iran

The liver fluke, Fasciola hepatica, is considered as the most common cause of fasciolosis in both domestic livestock and human. This study was carried out to detect the prevalence of the larval stages of F. hepatica in the snails Galba truncatula and Lymnaea stagnalis in West Azarbaijan, Iran. Snail collection was performed through searching 28 freshwater habitats from May to December 2010. Fol...

Paramphistomum daubneyi: characteristics of infection in three lymnaeid species

Experimental infections of two South American lymnaeids (Lymnaea neotropica and L. viatrix var. ventricosa) with Paramphistomum daubneyi were carried out to determine if these snail species could sustain larval development of this digenean and, if so, to specify their potential for cercarial production. A French population of Galba truncatula infected and raised according to the same protocol s...

Detection of Ornithobilharzia turkestanikum cercaria (trematoda) by nested-PCR in intermediate host snail, Lymnaea gedrosiana

Trematodes are important in economic and public health. Ornithobilharzia turkestanicum (O. turkestanicum) is one of the important economic trematodes in domestic animals. Ornithobilharzia infection in intermediate host (Lymnaea gedrosiana ) can be detected by either exposing snails to light to induce cercarial shedding or by squeezing them between glass slides to detect parasites. The current...

The influence of different food sources on cercarial production in Lymnaea truncatula experimentally infected with Digenea.

Experimental infections of Lymnaea truncatula with a digenean species (Fasciola gigantica, F. hepatica, or Paramphistomum daubneyi) were performed under laboratory conditions to study the effect of four sources of food (microalgae, romaine lettuce, wheat germs, or modified Boray diet) on cercarial production. The mean number of F. hepatica, F. gigantica, or P. daubneyi cercariae was significant...
